Hey everybody!
How’s 2010 going for you? We’re a few weeks in – hope all your resolutions/goals are going as planned. If not, it’s never too late to start fresh.
If your 2010 has been going great, that’s awesome… but there are some people whose 2010 has been unexpectedly tragic. I’m sure you all know that I’m speaking of the Haiti victims. The natural disaster claimed so many lives and brought so much suffering. The victims’ lives have been far from great in these past few weeks. So for those of us who have any great to give, give it! The victims of Haiti can use money donations, food, blankets, flashlights, first-aid supplies, clothes, and of course good thoughts and prayers. You can always reference the website www.HopeforHaitiNow.org for suggestions.
Gratefully, 2010 is starting out great for me. I’m currently still in Nashville, working on my album. The first few days I was here, I just sat in a room with my producer and he played guitar while I sang the songs that will be on the album. Having the songs in such a stripped-down form allowed for my producer, Paul, to know what direction to take them production-wise.
Once the little rehearsals were complete, I went to a rehearsal space and sang on a stage with a band. Paul paced around and threw out thoughts for the different musicians and they tried different licks and approaches. It was a new experience for me – definitely a learning experience. Seeing how much the players added to the songs – both in fullness of sound and in emotion – was amazing. The players: Mike-keyboards, Chad-drums, Ilya and Biff -acoustic guitars, Chris and Kenny -electric guitars, Allison-bass, and David-loops. I thank them for their immense talent and hard work.
After rehearsing on the stage and really getting the songs down, we went into the studio and tracked. Tracking is when all the players go into separate booths and play the songs 5 or 6 times each and I sing along. Then after those 5 or 6 times, the players go in and re-do particular parts and solos that they may want to change.
Then comes the vocals! I go into a booth all on my lonesome. I sing the songs over and over from start to finish, trying different things based on Paul and my own collective thoughts and in-the-moment inspiration.
Oh, hey! If you guys remember, on “Just Jennette” weekend on Nickelodeon, my favorite episode, “iWas a Pageant Girl”, was going to air. For whatever reason, that got changed. Now it’s airing this Friday, January 29th! Be sure to tune in, if you can! Like I said, it’s my favorite episode, so I really think you guys will enjoy it, too. Let me know! Friday, January 29th.

The episode “iWas a Pageant Girl” is where you were tap dancing, correct? Because if it is, that is really amazing tap dancing skills, mad props to you! I was blown away when I saw a preview for this episode on YouTube somewhere. Ice Skating, Tap dancing, what can’t you do :p.

Can you believe that Haiti had an earthquake? I can’t. Also, I was watching the news and they said that the last plane to leave Haiti saw the earthquake happen. Hello Jennette. I please me fully about your album. You can sing wonderfully, continue in such a way. The next Icarly follows I am also already glad.
Aloha Jennette! I’ve read your blog for some time now but this is my first comment… It’s amazing to me that people here can have so many ‘fake’ problems – car insurance, commercials, a few drops left in the milk jug, dandruff (ewwww!)- while the people (and pets) of Haiti are buried under they’re own country. If everyone with extra money shared it out among each other, the world would certainly be a better place. And if not money, at least sending good thoughts helps!
Your tales of working with that amazingly awesome band, in the city of music no less, would make and musician (including me) pretty envious! Not only are you a great actress, but a phenomenal singer. When I first heard your songs, I couldn’t believe it was you! You sound better than most people twice your age.
Gives us have more time to do just that.
As you say though, “dream GINORMOUSLY!” Being a homeschooler doesn’t hurt either

If I were to ask you if you had to choose between paradise and Nashville, I reckon you will say Nashville is paradise and from all that I’ve read so far on Nashville and looking at some pictures on Google and hearing how nice everyone is there, I don’t blame you if you think Nashville really is like that
And I am going to be helping Haiti again tomorrow! I’m sending 10 dollars to the Canadian Red Cross so hopefully that helps, plus the good thoughts and prayers that I know everyone has been showing for weeks now, which is good. Also, you can help out with Haiti through http://www.goodsearch.com/ As the saying goes, “Every cent counts” or maybe I made that up…Anyway, each time you search, whatever foundation you want to help, 1 cent will go to that foundation and if you got many others to help you with whichever foundation, more money will go to it and I’m sure that if you shop 30% of the money you used when shopping online will be donated to that foundation. Isn’t that neat?

Hey Jennette it’s Jake I’ll have u know that my basket ball season is a month away from being over we have 12 games left I think. And I’m starting my own rock in roll band I have 9 songs that would be enough for an album but I have not been able to get it to a record company so. Oh and on spring break I’m going to panama for four or five days so that should be fun. And when I hit the off season I will be workin out and staying in good shape. Thank you, Jennette, for reminding us to think of the victims of that horrid tragedy in Haiti. I gave to World Vision, which already had infrastructure in place in Haiti. At first, I thought I had gone overboard with my donation. As the days wore on, however, I realized that the Haitian people need so much more!
In regards to giving in general, I always think of a song by the band “YES”, (The Revealing Science of God)which, near the songs end, includes the words:
“We’ve moved fast. We need love. A part we offer is our only freedom”
